Dear
Mr. Kim,

In our last newsletter we announced the start of our in-house production
of InGaAs and extended InGaAs PIN diodes. This time we are able to
present not only additions to the product portfolio but two completely
new members of the LASER COMPONENTS Group.

Microwatt Applications LLC, specialized in the production of pyroelectric
detectors, was acquired and renamed to LASER COMPONENTS Pyro Group. As of
now, high-end pyro detectors based on LiTaO3 and DLaTGS are available
worldwide, made by LASER COMPONENTS.

Our customers in Scandinavia and Finland will be serviced by our new
office LASER COMPONENTS Nordic which is located in Gothenburg and opened
its doors in August.

Sincerely,

Sven Schreiber

Head of Sales

Production of Pyroelectric
Detectors

The LASER COMPONENTS Group is
expanding its activities in the area of IR components and has taken
over the majority of the U.S. manufacturer Microwatt Applications, LLC,
the specialist in the development and production of pyroelectric
detectors.

Avalanche Photodiodes with
Fiber Pigtails

LASER COMPONENTS DG now manufactures
avalanche photodiodes with fiber pigtails. With a semiautomatic
assembly unit, the fibers can be adjusted exactly to within a few
micrometers and thus achieve output coupling efficiencies of almost
100%.

Complex IBS Coatings Starting
at 266 nm

We use the IBS coater to manufacture
particularly complex coating designs with more than 100 layers. Ion
beam sputtering (IBS) makes it possible to create very compact and
homogeneous layers and new coating materials open up even UV
wavelengths.

FLEXPOINT® Laser Modules Now
Available with Microprocessor Control

Via a serial UART interface, users learn a lot about their
laser module: for example, the operating hours or the temperature on the
inside of the laser module.

Peak Performance of Pulsed Laser
Diodes at 650 W in a TO-18 Housing

LASER COMPONENTS Canada has set a new world record with its
pulsed laser diodes at 905 nm: peak power levels of up to 650 W emitted
from a small TO-18 housing.

Panchromatic InGaAs or Silicon?

At longer wavelengths panchromatic InGaAs has a higher
temperature stability than silicon and is thus a viable alternative in
laser applications at approximately 1,000 nm.

How Quantum Cryptography Works

How do you prevent data from being intercepted by a third
party? The solution to this problem lies in cryptography: The message must
be encoded.

Shorter Dead Times with COUNT®
Modules

In many applications, the dynamic range of single photon
detectors is an important parameter. Thus, it has always been our goal to
further reduce the dead time of our COUNT® photon counters.
